Stockdale Ranch Multi-Use Trail Breaks Ground!

3.25.2022

Earlier this week, the City broke ground on a 2.5-mile multi-use trail, dubbed the Stockdale Ranch multi-use trail.

This added amenity will provide access between Stockdale River Ranch and the existing Kern River Bike Path. The trail will have pedestrian, cyclist, and e-bike access, and also includes upgrading existing dirt and gravel service roads located along with a levee system within the City’s 2,800-acre recharge facility to a paved multi-use pathway. A 100-foot-long, 12-foot-wide steel truss bridge will also be built over the Cross Valley Canal.

The $1.1 million project is funded through the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program funds (88.53%) and local Gas Tax and Utilities Surcharge funds (11.47%).
Construction is expected to commence this Spring and the trail is expected to be complete by July 2022.
Bolthouse Properties thanks the City of Bakersfield, Balfanz Homes, Granite Construction Company, and the Kern County Water Agency for their partnerships on this project.
